PATINA:
Patination. The last step is to give the statue the patina chosen by the sculptor. A great variety of patinas are available, achieved by applying various acids. Of the most common, ferric nitrate gives shades of brown, cupric nitrate shades of green, and liver of sulfur shades of dark brown and black, all affected by the strength of the chemical, the temperature at which applied, and the technique of application.
